Autumn School 2025 with Israeli Shamoon College at OVGU Magdeburg
This year's autumn school with students and lecturers from Israel's Sami Shamoon College of Engineering became a resounding success – both in academic but also in personal terms!
Shamoon College, with its students spread across two campuses, and in particular the delegation that was sent to Magdeburg and underwent a selection process for our autumn school, were full of enthusiasm for the university and its campus, which is currently undergoing restructuring, the diverse programme that combined both academic as well as engineering content with conveying the cultural, social and political specifics of the region, Germany and Europe, as well as the ideas they were able to take home with them for shaping their personal careers but also lives more generally.
Key programme highlights included the lectures held entirely in English, the excursions to Leipzig, Weimar, Wernigerode and Wörlitz, and the many personal encounters that resulted from the programme. The autumn school experience culminated in group projects that required reflection on their time in Germany, Magdeburg and Saxony-Anhalt. For many of the students and teachers, a reunion and another visit to Germany and Magdeburg are now a must.
