Since 2003, the Magdeburg Children’s University has been introducing children and young people to exciting topics from the world of research in a way that is easy to understand, age-appropriate and full of enthusiasm. The women behind the organisation are Katja Grunenberg and Friederike Wiemann. They share their favourite spots on campus.

On 1 August, ‘The Future’ received her staff ID card at the University of Magdeburg. Since then, new trainees have been learning how a university works from the inside out. Their work takes them to offices, laboratories, technical departments, the IT department and the University Library.

Understanding biology, modelling technical processes and, ultimately, winning an award for her own Bachelor’s thesis: for Isabel Bühnemann, the path through the Bachelor’s degree programme in Biosystems Engineering led to the Association of German Engineers (VDI) sponsorship award.
